Our animal habitats and animal practices are independently accredited, reviewed, audited, and certified by premier zoological and animal welfare organizations. This ensures that we not only meet, but exceed, the highest standards of animal care. We proudly hold accreditations or certifications from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums, International Marine Animal Trainers Association, United States Department of Agriculture, and American Humane.

Working in partnership with our colleagues at SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, we actively support global conservation initiatives by providing financial and scientific contributions focused on marine animal health, habitat protection, and education programs that help to develop the next generation of conservation ambassadors. We take great pride in our work to rescue marine animals: our Rescue teams are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year and has helped rescue over 41,000 animals and counting. Sustainability

We are committed to supporting and finding ways to protect our environment for a better future, from providing complimentary animal safe sunscreen for all guests, eliminating single-use plastic straws, lids, or shopping bags to more sustainable souvenirs like plush animals made from recycled plastic bottles. With every action we take we are always mindful of our impact on the world around us.

Sustainable Fish for Animal Ambassadors

Discovery Cove is dedicated to providing healthy, restaurant-grade food sources for all the animals in our care. We are committed to sustainable sourcing of fish fed to the fish-eating (piscivorous) animals. This includes purchasing food from responsibly managed fisheries that we closely review for nutritional quality and safety. Discovery Cove avoids purchasing fish that have been caught or farmed in ways that harm other marine life or the environment.

Sustainable Food Sourcing and Humane Farming

As part of our efforts to inspire our guests to protect the world we live in, Discovery Cove is dedicated to responsible food sourcing. As part of that policy, we commit to only provide humanely raised and sustainably harvested food. Here are a few of the commitments our company has made towards sustainable and humane food sourcing:

A continuing commitment to serving seafood sourced from either sustainably managed fisheries or aquaculture in all dining locations.

Expanded menus to include more plant-based options for guests.

A commitment to source produce from local farms when and where possible.

A commitment to sustainably source all coffee served to our guests and ambassadors.

Purchase all commodity pork cuts from suppliers who have announced a commitment to humane farming practices like those who have published targets for conversion to group sow housing.

All eggs, including shell and liquid eggs, are sourced from cage-free chickens.

Park Accessibility Program

Discovery Cove has a variety of accessibility options throughout the park, including wheelchairs, service animal accommodations, and more. We can accommodate guests with disabilities who are able to maneuver themselves with limited assistance or with the aid of a personal assistance during their dolphin experience and in the various wading locations.
